Please take a minute to read...

I have two more posts already today so make sure you read them too. One is about the day and the other is me just responding to comments and questions.

I do want to remind everyone that yes, I am hiking the AT for fun and to accomplished a goal of mine. However, I am using my time, talents, ability, etc. to do this for others, and you can too. I am trying to raise money for children's charities and help others become aware of the types of charities out there related to kids. I ask that people pledge to a charity of their choice based on the number of miles I hike. My goal is $100,000 pledged after hiking all 2,176 miles. I understand that giving may be a tough thing for some of us. However, you can still help me out by spreading the word or just reading about the charities that others are already giving to. Remember, a penny a mile is only 21 dollars in the end. But 21 dollars adds up quick. More information can be found on the links to the right on my blog. Leave a comment or send an email if you have any questions.

Thanks to those who have already pledged and helped to spread the word. It is awesome to hear stories and find out who is following this blog even though I might have never met you. I am just one piece of the puzzle. Just think of the puzzle we can complete if we continue to work together on this.

Words can not express again my thanks to those who have supported me so far. I am grateful to have each and everyone of you as a part of this journey. It truly means a lot.

Thanks again,
Brian "BowTie" Thompson

  2. Hi Brian
I am a member of Advent Presbyterian Church in Cordova, TN and a good friend of Barbara Rudolph. She shared your blog with us (Huddle Advisors) just before you started on your adventure and I have been following it ever since then. I admire what you are doing - it's something I have always dreamed about! I love reading what you are doing everyday
Keep it up and enjoy God's beautiful gift of nature!

  3. OKAY...this is now my FOURTH attempt to post a comment. What in the heck don't I understand about this process?! Sorry, but I have written multiple replies only to have them disappear and be sent to a sign in page, etc. My computer illiteracy is REALLY frustrating me!
Once again I say.... I'm so glad to hear the socks have helped the shin splints...painful little boogers! The pics are awesome! They really make your blog real and remind me that I'm not just reading an adventure novel. Although this IS going to make an incredible novel! Big Daddy asked me this morning if you're going to do as Forrest Gump did when you reach the end of the trail; that is, just turn around and hike back to the beginning! HA! I told him, "Don't dare him!" I continue praying daily for your protection & safety, healing for shin splints, blisters, aches & pains, good weather and sure footing. I will add a prayer that God will help quiet your mind of the 'daily trail duties, goals', etc., and help you to "Be still and know that I am God." Blessings to you as you are truly His hands and feet in far more ways than you will ever know! Love and admiration - Babs

  5. Hey Bud, It seems as if you are gaining some new readers and bloggers. I think it is awesome that you are even able to connect some old friends (Brad and Breiti). I hope you don't decide to follow Forrest Gump. I'm proud of you but it would take longer than I plan for you to return, Let me know if you received Nancy Roberts' pledge. She has asked me several times. Did you even get a bow tie? Take care of your legs and let us hear from you. Love, MOM
