May 24 - 11.2 / 1,012.8

I was in no rush to get going in the morning. Samurai and I started out together. We got to side trail for the first shelter. I stopped and took some pictures to send in to Volunteers that Rock. TW caught up to us while we had stopped.

The hike into Harpers Ferry was a short one. Once there, I took the side trail to the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. I was the 106th northbounder to register as making it from Springer. Not to bad to be the 314th to register at Springer and now be the 106th. I would be interested to know how many people have made it. Harpers Ferry is the symbolic half way point even though it is 80 something miles short of half way.

All of us met up at the ATC, ran some errands, and then hiked to the historic part of the town. I got a room at the hostel in town while the others hiked on. I said my farewells to all of them, but hope to catch up over the next few weeks. Either way, I have made some life long friends and will keep in touch.

Also in town were the two girls from England. I had not seen them since the second day out on the trail. They were still behind me but had gotten a hitch out of SNP as one of them had shin splints.

I split a room with K 2 5 as I planned to get up early and catch the first train into DC.
